B-complex sweat trick to keep ticks away

Like the older B1 myth, the broader B-complex sweat-repellent claim is not supported by controlled trials.

Steps

schema.org/HowTo
  1. 01
DO NOT take megadose B-complex vitamins as a tick repellent strategy.
  2. 02
The purported mechanism, that B vitamins excreted in sweat repel arthropods, has been tested and is not supported by peer-reviewed entomology research.
  3. 03
Large doses of some B vitamins can also cause flushing or nerve symptoms.
  4. 04
Instead, use a registered topical repellent on skin and treat clothing with permethrin.
  5. 05
Save the vitamins for actual nutritional deficiencies under a clinician's guidance.
