Blowing on the tick to make it leave

Blowing air on an attached tick has no effect and only delays mechanical removal.

Steps

schema.org/HowTo
  1. 01
DO NOT try to blow an attached tick off with your breath or a fan.
  2. 02
A tick that has cemented its mouthparts into your skin is not going to be dislodged by airflow. The myth confuses ticks with loose insects.
  3. 03
Delaying removal increases the chance of pathogen transmission.
  4. 04
Instead, use fine-tipped tweezers as close to the skin as possible.
  5. 05
Pull straight up with steady, even pressure until the tick releases.
