Marking the bite site (skin pen, photograph)

Mark and photograph the bite right after removal so you can track expansion of any rash over the next 30 days.

Steps

schema.org/HowTo
  1. 01
After removal and cleaning, circle the bite site with a fine-tip skin pen or surgical marker.
  2. 02
Photograph the marked site under bright, even light with a coin for scale.
  3. 03
Repeat the photo every 2-3 days for 30 days, in the same lighting and pose.
  4. 04
A bullseye or expanding red ring (erythema migrans) at 3-30 days is a reason to call a clinician.
  5. 05
Keep all photos in one phone album labeled with the date of bite.
