Ozone showers killing ticks indoors

Ozone-generating showers and indoor ozone devices have not been validated as effective tick controls and ozone itself is a respiratory irritant.

    There is no peer-reviewed evidence that ozone exposure at safe-for-humans levels kills attached ticks or ticks on clothing.

    Ozone at concentrations high enough to harm arthropods is a strong respiratory irritant for people and pets and is regulated for that reason.

    For clothing, the validated approach is tumble drying on high heat for 10 minutes (more if damp), which kills ticks reliably.

    For skin, perform a tick check and shower within two hours of coming indoors.
