Repeat serology 4-6 weeks after a negative

If first-tier Lyme serology is negative within the first month, repeat in 4-6 weeks to capture seroconversion.

Steps

schema.org/HowTo
  1. 01
Note the date of symptom onset (or bite, if known).
  2. 02
If the first test is drawn within 30 days of symptoms and is negative, schedule a repeat at week 4-6.
  3. 03
The repeat test follows the same algorithm (two-tier or modified two-tier).
  4. 04
A clear seroconversion (negative to positive) supports recent infection.
  5. 05
Empirical antibiotic treatment for clinically diagnosed EM should not be delayed pending serology.
