Self-collected tick photo for clinician

A clear, scaled photo of the removed tick is an acceptable substitute when the specimen itself is lost or discarded.

Steps

schema.org/HowTo
  1. 01
Place the tick on a pale background next to a coin or ruler.
  2. 02
    Take 2-3 sharp, well-lit photos including a top-down view.
  3. 03
Note the bite date and time and the body site.
  4. 04
Share the image with the clinician via the patient portal or telehealth visit.
  5. 05
Photo ID assists species and engorgement estimation but does not replace clinical evaluation if symptoms develop.
