DO NOT trust a soapy washcloth to make an attached tick release.

Some ticks may eventually let go from prolonged soap exposure, but most will not, and the time spent waiting is time the tick is still transmitting pathogens.

A suffocating tick can also regurgitate into the wound.

Instead, use fine-tipped tweezers to remove it mechanically and immediately, then wash the bite area with soap and water.
