Removing a tick from the genital area

Skin in the groin and genitals is thin and folded; spread it taut, work in good light, and use the smallest pointed tweezers you have.

Steps

schema.org/HowTo
  1. 01
In a private, well-lit space, have the person lie down so the area is flat and accessible.
  2. 02
Use a clean, gloved hand to hold a fold of skin taut so the tick sits on a flat surface.
  3. 03
Grasp the tick at skin level with needle-point tweezers and lift straight up slowly.
  4. 04
Avoid alcohol on mucosal surfaces; clean with soap and water and rinse.
  5. 05
Mark the bite location on a body diagram or photograph for follow-up; this skin is easy to lose track of.
