Tick removal card (credit-card style)

A flat plastic card with a notched slot that slides along the skin to lift a tick free without squeezing the body.

    Hold the skin taut next to the tick with your free hand.

    Place the card flat on the skin a few millimeters from the tick, notch facing the tick.
  3. 03
    Slide the card along the skin so the narrowing slot catches the tick at the mouthparts.
  4. 04
    Continue sliding with steady pressure until the tick lifts free; do not lever upward.
  5. 05
    Clean the bite site with soap and water or alcohol and inspect for retained mouthparts.
