TickEncounter (URI) photo identification

URI's TickEncounter offers free photo-based species identification and life-stage estimation through its TickSpotters submission form.

Steps

schema.org/HowTo
  1. 01
Photograph the tick on a pale background with a coin or ruler for scale.
  2. 02
Submit the image to TickSpotters at tickencounter.org.
  3. 03
URI staff respond, usually within a day, with species, life stage, and engorgement estimate.
  4. 04
The service does not test for pathogens — it is identification only.
  5. 05
Use the report as one input to a clinical conversation, not a treatment trigger.
