Bourbon Virus 2014 Kansas

Bourbon virus is named for Bourbon County, Kansas, where in 2014 a previously healthy farmer with a history of tick bite died 11 days after onset of fever and fatigue. CDC identified a novel thogotovirus - the first member of that genus shown to cause human illness in the United States. Five confirmed human cases have been reported as of recent surveillance.
