Lone Star Tick Vector Portfolio

A single tick species, Amblyomma americanum, transmits ehrlichiosis from Ehrlichia chaffeensis and E. ewingii, tularemia, Heartland virus, Bourbon virus, STARI, and is the principal cause of alpha-gal syndrome in the United States. No other North American tick carries a comparable disease portfolio.
