Wild fact

Dermacentor Reticulatus European Spread

Dermacentor reticulatus, the ornate dog tick, has expanded explosively across central Europe since 2000. It now occupies all 16 German federal states and most of the Czech Republic, driven largely by warmer winters and dogs traveling between regions. Its rise has paralleled a sharp increase in canine babesiosis (Babesia canis).
