Wild fact

Dermacentor Reticulatus Tbe and Horses

Dermacentor reticulatus carries tick-borne encephalitis virus in parts of central and eastern Europe, and is also a principal vector of Babesia caballi and Theileria equi - the two protozoa that cause equine piroplasmosis. The same tick can therefore put a horse and its owner at risk on the same ride.
