Wild fact

Gulf Coast Tick Northern Creep

Amblyomma maculatum was once confined to a coastal band along the Gulf of Mexico. Established populations now reach Connecticut and the lower Hudson Valley, carried north largely by migratory grassland birds. In some northern populations more than 20 percent of adults carry Rickettsia parkeri.
